Strategies for targeting ATMs to prevent obesity progression include inhibiting their activation into a pro-inflammatory state by restraining their recruitment, polarization, and proliferation. Additionally, manipulating the profiles of obese ATMs, including their functionality, metabolism, and molecular regulation, could reverse their inflammatory characteristics, thereby reversing adipose tissue inflammation and insulin resistance. These approaches hold promise as therapeutic interventions for obesity-associated metabolic diseases.
