Background: The purpose of this study was to assess the reduction effect of cellulite among obese women who wore the slimming garment made of special drug delivering fabric.
Methods: A total of 14 women aged 20 to 50 years whose thigh circumference was above 50 centimeters were randomly divided into two groups (test group: 7, control group: 7). Both groups participated in an 8-week study. The test group subjects wore the slimming garment made of special drug delivering fabric after applying slimming cream twice a day. On the other hand, the control group subjects wore an identical looking garment which did not contain the special fabric. Thigh circumference, thickness of subcutaneous fat, weight and body mass index (BMI) of subjects were measured. Also, self reported questionnaires were used to assess the efficacy and safety of the test product.
Results: Test group subjects showed a significant decrease in circumference and thickness of thigh compared with control group subjects. Subjects were satisfied with the effect of cellulite reduction and no adverse effects were observed.
Conclusion: Our study showed that the slimming garment made of a special drug delivering fabric is useful for cellulite reduction without skin irritation.
